Have you ever wished for different - thicker, straighter, curlier, or shinier hair? It seems the pursuit for healthy manageable hair is ongoing and takes more than just using the right shampoo. Our hair health is affected by many lifestyle and environmental factors.
Some of the main factors include:
UV Exposure - Prolonged exposure to the sun can damage the cuticle layer of your hair shaft. The cuticle is the outer most layer of the hair shaft and is what you can see. It is comprised of overlapping layers of cells, like scales. When they are flat and smooth, the cuticle will reflect light, giving your hair a shiny appearance. However, when they become damaged the cuticle has a rough texture which will make your hair appear dull and frizzy.
Diet – A nutritional diet full of vitamins, nutrients and low in sugar is essential to promote healthy hair growth. It has been suggested that there is a link between sugar consumption and hair thinning.
Hair Care Routines - Everyone has different hair care requirements depending on the type of hair they have. How often you wash, colour and use heat appliances to style, can drastically affect the condition of your hair, particularly affecting the cuticle layer.
Stress – Studies have shown that stress and anxiety can lead to hair loss.
Incorporating Sandalwood oil into your hair care routine can be helpful in reducing stress and promoting healthy hair. The therapeutic benefits of Sandalwood oil are undisputed. Traditionally, used for its medicinal and relaxant properties, the scent of Sandalwood stimulates the senses creating a calming and mood enhancing effect.
Sandalwood Hair Sheen
Adding a few drops of Sandalwood oil to wet hair can help retain moisture and add a shine to your hair. It will also surround you with the relaxing scent of sandalwood to enjoy.
Sandalwood Conditioning Head Massage
Like sandalwood oil, massage has been used for thousands of years to promote relaxation and restore the energy balance throughout the body. Even a simple head massage can often help to relieve stress and tension, ease headaches, improve blood circulation and not to forget, it also feels fabulous.
Use the simple massage technique below to take your Sandalwood Hair Care Treatment to the next level of relaxation:
Blend a carrier oil like Coconut oil or Jojoba Oil with Sandalwood Oil.
Dip your fingertips into the oil blend and using light to medium pressure begin to massage your scalp in a circular motion.
Move your hands, making sure to massage your entire head.
The oil blend can also be applied to the ends of your hair for a conditioning treatment.
For a deeper treatment leave in and wrap hair with warm towel. After 30 mins rinse out.
Rinsing your hair in cool water helps to tighten the cuticle layer and enhances the shine of your hair.
